Selected, and set up in Cremona, by Roberto Cavagnoli
Our intermediate range of violins and violas is named for Rudi Schwerdtfeger, the virtuosic violinist and friend of composer Adrian Leverkühn in Thomas Mann's Doctor Faustus. He's a cosmopolitan musical ambassador, who fosters international cultural exchange and co-operation in an age of creeping nationalism. Bit of a hero of ours, of course.
Schwerdtfeger violins, violas, and cellos are selected by Roberto Cavagnoli from workshops we've known and trusted for years. He sets them up in Cremona to feel and sound the best they can.
